Gilles Mayk Navangi, 1990, Paris, France
Gilles Mayk Navangi (1990) is a French painter, illustrator and sculptor based between Paris and Brussels. He is a graduate of the Lycée Jean Pierre Vernant (BTAA) and the Ecole d'Amiens (DNAP). His eclectic vision leads him to express his creativity in a multitude of ways, tackling different supports, mediums and media... His reflections are turned towards the phenomenon of civilization, with a particular interest in primordial African culture. This need to reappropriate one's cultural heritage through artistic practice is evident in the new Afro-descendant artistic and creative generation. In his pictorial work, he also proposes a graphic representation of the human body and nature, while reflecting on different approaches to motif.
