Overbookée & ARTKOFA – An Exhibition called “A beautiful Revolution”
The Maison de la Conversation and Overbookée are constantly innovating to offer their audiences a unique experience based on committed themes.
For the Overbookée literary festival, founder Déli asked Orphée for support in organising an exhibition on anti-racism, feminism and black beauty.
Artkofa and Overbookées’ group exhibition, “A beautiful Revolution”, features works by Afro-diasporic artists who are diverse in the themes and mediums they use, and who share common considerations on feminism, racial representation and beauty.
‘A Beautiful Revolution’ is both a call to reminiscence and a reflection on the creation of spaces that will uplift, inspire and heal those facing racism and social injustice. Because we still have a long way to go.
It’s a great source of pride to work with people who are so committed to culture, dialogue and solidarity. And to be able to showcase the work of our Afro-centric artists.
This exhibition features works by the following artists:
– Major Beninese artist Dominique Zinkpé (From Bénin), his work tackles subjects such as intimacy, sex, the sacred and the profane, and makes the link between ancestral cultures and the contradictions of today’s world.
– Eliane Aisso (From Bénin), through her work, she raises awareness of education and respect for the laws of nature.
– Marianne Costade (France), is interested in self-love and introspection through photographic self-portraits with traditional African braids.
– Aaron Tamakloé (Ghana), he loves colours and draws his inspiration and creativity from nature, culture and images of Africa in transition from tradition to modernity. He also experiments with abstracts and likes being spontaneous in his work.
